New York, NY, August 2, 2010 — Proudly crowning a new king, Casio America Inc. boldly debuts the G-Shock Ultimate Tough GX56. This latest edition to the G-Shock family seamlessly combines advanced technologies and the latest shock resistant construction. Majestic in size, the GX56 is the largest case design (55.5mm x 53.6mm x 17.5mm) in G-Shock history, nearly two times (2x) larger in volume than the classic DW5600.
Similar to its predecessors, the GX56 has a hollow case construction, all-directional covering and cushioning material around its critical operating parts. A new triple density, triple layer structure elevates the GX56 to a new level of shock resistance. Two layers of hard urethane just below the case protect against external shocks. Ever-resilient Alpha GEL®, a inner third layer of soft urethane that expands and contracts as pressure is applied, has been implanted beneath the face at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock to absorb impact on the inside. For added protection, lug screws securely fasten the band to case and the buckle to band to minimize the chance of detachment when the watch is dropped. In addition to unmatched shock resistance, the GX56 features advanced Self-Charging, Tough Solar Power technology for unwavering reliability.
